burn after reading

Yesterday was a jam-packed day with meetings left, right, and centre. At noon I had my first student association meeting which went very well. I successfully facilitated it without a staff liaison and the members were very responsive to my leadership style, which gave me more confidence throughout the meeting. Afterwards, a few of the members, Nick, Catherine and Naila, and I went out with Liz and Laura to the SUB to grab food. When I got back to the Cave I met up with the birthday boy, my boyfriend, and since I had enough time before my next meeting, we decided to go out to lunch. I hadn't eaten yet because I didn't want anything at the SUB. I've been eating there for the past two days which I had never done before and I don't think I want to make it a habit. :S We bussed down to Main and Broadway and found a sushi place. We passed by Scrape Records which Tim has been wanting to go to for the longest time, and we noticed it on our way to lunch. Quel surprise/quel chance!
Lunch was funny because, as Tim put it, "I've never been in a sushi place that was quiet." Maybe it was due to the time of day? We were the only customers there for awhile and it was kinda eerie. Later on I didn't mind so much because I had a coughing fit and began hacking. It got to a point where my eyes were welling up with tears. "JUST THE WORST" as Naila says. My throat and cough have been getting worse throughout the week since Sunday morning. I finally gave in to buying cough syrup and Fisherman's Friend last night though. FINALLY.

My second meeting was a college board meeting that I attend as the student rep chair. It was the first board meeting I've ever attended and boy did I learn a lot. Oh and of course I got grilled with questions after I introduced myself. Usually I handle interviews quite well, but this time I actually felt myself get really warm and I probably turned red. Any how, one of the board members congratulated me for answering everyone on my first day on board. The chairman promised it wouldn't always be like this. I'm hoping the same. Although that bit was a little nerve-wracking, I did learn a lot about what goes on in these board meetings. It was fun for me to hear from all these well-rounded, educated, established, successful adults and to see them so passionate about the college. They've inspired me with ideas of how I can contribute in my own way through student association.

Around 730, I asked the recording secretary if I could be excused because she said I only had to be around till 730, and I was about to have another coughing fit. I found Tim in the student lounge, and we decided to go watch Burn After Reading at the Paramount. What an awesome film by the Coen brothers. I was entertained from start to finish. I can't wait to buy it on DVD! hahah So Timmy just dropped me off home and I'm still feeling the cough syrup...Otherwise I wouldn't have managed to write this whole blog. WOW I really don't mind writing when drunk/high. I shouldn't depend on those conditions to be able to write though. Now that would be a problem.

Yay for no school on Fridays!
