Home SWEET Home

I'm hoooome. Got in around 12 noon yesterday. As soon as I got home I organized my things and got ready to go out and see Tim ASAP :) We watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, one of the 3 movies he got me for Christmas. I LOVED IT. Robert Downey Jr is my fave right now! Val Kilmer was funny as shit as Gay Perry. He was this super-sarcastic guy and he kind of reminded me of Catherine. They're both like perpetually sarcastic, only I enjoy Gay Perry more 'cause it's always funnier when it's not directed to me.

Anyhooo, I worked today and got to leave early because it wasn't very busy. At all! I've heard mixed reviews about The Spirit, so I'm definitely going to see it sometime to make up my own mind about it.

Here's I sweet site I wanted to share with everyone: Get Right
The first mixtape I d/led  from the site today:  Mick Boogie & Adele - 1988

"Mick Boogie jumps right into a brand new mash up mixtape following his criticaly acclaimed “Viva La Hova.” On this latest one, similar to ‘Viva La Hova” Mick Boogie reaches out to some of the best up and coming producers and rhyme sayers to help in the project. This one remixes Adele’s “19″ album and backs it with a reinterpretation of beats from the 80’s decade of hip hop. Adele has been nominated for 4 Grammy’s by the way. "

IT REALLY IS FANTASTIC! I love Adele already, and to hear her sweet vocals fused with these beats is pretty magical.  I've been listening to it non-stop since I got home.  I'm d/ling more as I'm writing this, including one by Travis Barker! and DJ AM.

Other than finding some good mixtapes, all I can say is,
Man it feels SO GOOD to be home!

xoxo

Think of me, think of me fondly...

Phantom of the Opera was...

PHANTASTIC!

hahaha Seriously the best production I've ever seen. The chandelier and the transformation in the beginning was unbelievable.  I almost wanted to cry, I was so happy to finally see it on stage.
*sigh*

My flight's tomorrow morning. Can't wait to see you all.

another day on the strip

day 3 - Monday Dec 22:

We woke up early to have the complimentary continental breakfast offered by the hotel. Then went back to our room. I fell back asleep because it was still really early, like round 8am. Shiiit, back home I was sleeping in till 2 or 3pm! hahahaha

When I woke up from my morning nap hahaha we went back to the mall near us, Miracle Mile Shops, and had lunch at a place called Cheeseburger. It was Hawaiian themed and I had shrimp rolled in coconut, and seasoned fries. Mmmm it was so good.

After lunch we started heading down the strip towards Mandalay Bay to see the Shark Reef Aquarium. On the way though we took many detours and hit up a bunch of different hotels and took lots of photos every where. We went to M&M's world and got lots of photos, and M&M's. Then we went to New York-New York Hotel & Casino and my sibs and I rode the Manhatten Express Rollercoaster! It was the best rollercoaster I've ever been on! I almost cried, I thought I was gonna die. I'm terrified of heights but I lovelovelove rollercoasters. It was totally like nothing I've ever experienced. The loop was insane. I sat with my brother who was hilarious because he was yelling along with me the whole time, except he kept saying FUCK while I was just screaming like a girl and yelling AHH.

Finally we ended up at Mandalay Bay via the tram at Excalibur. The shark reef aquarium was fun. We got to bring this audio remote that told us info aboutt the different displays everytime you punch a number in. My family got a picture taken and we got three photos with three different backgrounds printed, and a Shark Reef frame! Very tourist-y. I think we most likely got something similar when we went to Disneyland.

day 4 - Tues Dec 23:

Woke up early and tried to head out towards the Fashion Outlet, except we never made it. We kinda got confused. ahah HOWEVER--We found a WalMart supercenter and got a GPS so we wouldn't get lost. We headed back to our hotel to drop off our groceries and stuff and to print off the addresses of a couple of outlets. We finally made it to the Fashion Outlet but it wasn't all that great, imo. The one store I was excited for was of course, Forever 21, but it wasn't like there were any amazing deals or anything. I did find a jacket I really like, and I also picked up a scarf and long gloves. I still really need a bag and boots. At Juicy Couture everything was 50% off, so this one bag I liked would've been $96 plus tax. I knew if I bought it I'd have practically nothing left. I mentioned it to my mom and she almost (it seemed) offered to buy it for me. But it didn't feel right since she was already buying my sister tons of crap (she spent all her money on the first day) so I just said, Whatever, it's too expensive.

Back in the hotel now, getting ready to eat.

feels just like home

Vegas is awesome. It's weird but it feels like I haven't left home. I mean, I feel comfortable here, like a belong here. I think I was born a city-girl.

Today we went shopping at Miracle Mile Shops and Fashion Show Mall. Overall, our first full day in Sin City was a very productive one. We walked around a LOT but it was sooo worth it. I love my purchases! I'm spent--I just woke up from a nap and might need to fall asleep again soon hahha.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store... ;)

Oh and I'll post some pictures soon for sure. Here's one teaser though---me and Cath in front of the Eiffel Tower in 'Paris'!

flight of the chiongsters

We take off for Vegas today! shiiii

It's 4am--I got home a bit over an hour ago. Yesterday I awoke at 3pm and then started getting all my stuff together to pack. Then Tim came over and we had dinner, then headed to Due's where we hung out for a couple of hours for his birthday party. I just came home from watching Black Christmas with Tim at the Rio. It was fun! Really creeeeeeepy. Even Tim got a bit scared hahah awwww...

So I'm just about finished packing now. I'm not sure whether I should try and sleep or just stay up a few more hours till we're supposed to leave the house. Ahh. Wish me a safe flight!

This isn't goodbye though, don't worry.  I'll keep yall posted on the haps, of course.

God bless everyone and Happy Holidays!

c'est tout!

Woohoo, today I had my second and final exam of the semestre! Yesterday I had Philosophy, which I feel totally confident about, what with the solid 1.5h of cramming I did with Tim, JayR, and Due. I was worried today's exams might almost get cancelled, which would mean they'd just get postponed to tomorrow provided the conditions were better. Luckily, I got it over with today. I woke up late so I didn't end up studying like I wanted to, and though I got to school 1.5h before the exam I ended up just chilling and talking to Alannah, Catherine, and Drew.

I finished the exam early and answered barely half the questions as best as I could with the little knowledge I had. :P It sucks, the first section was to define these terms, which I totally guessed because I never usually memorize definitions. But I can definitely answer stuff like "Comment on this case study..." etc etc because they're pretty open-ended questions.

Afterwards, Naila, Catherine, and I ate at Pepitas on 4th and skytrained home.

Man it feels good to be warm <3

My holiday officially starts TODAY!

c'est tout!
"that is all"

edit: Instead of creating an entirely new post for this video, I'll just throw this in here to give yall something to watch/listen to.
Well I was watching Rin on the Rox vids and found them featured on a video called "Unsigned R & B Artists" or something like that, and found similar videos featuring Hip Hop artists with original music. There were these guys Wax and Herbal T featured and I just loved Wax's style so I checked out their channel. I instantly liked this one 'cause it features him on an acoustic guitar instead of in a car (You'll know what I mean once you see a few of his vids). So check it out-- this one's one of my faves right now.

ah, facebook notes

So I was tired of watching Joan for the moment, so usually at that point I resort to Facebook browsing. I decided to delve into Notes instead of looking at boring photos of the same goddamn snow, just with different people. I ended up completing THREE different notes. These two were fun. Check it out.

walking in a winter wonderland

I had a long productive day on Saturday. It began with a much needed hot shower. :) Then I had a quick bite to eat and then packed my bags and  headed to UO to buy a gift. The Rio crew is doing a Secret Santa gift exchange that will be taking place at our staff party on Monday.

After I found the perfect gift, I headed over to West Van to study for Phil217 with Tim. Surprisingly enough, we managed to get through 9 out of 11 questions, which was good enough for me 'cause by the end of it I got really tired and just wanted to watch Love Actually. I started off strong but eventually fell asleep towards the end, only because I was so comfy there and I had already seen it so it was no big deal.

Heading home was crazy! I didn't realize it had been snowing. Even though it was just flurries it was kind of a nuisance, walking against the snow and having it wet my glasses and some how get into my eyes as well. I like snow but I hate being cold and I hate having my glasses fog up. I also do not enjoy falling onto my ass as a result of snow. Luckily that didn't happen.

Here's what West Van looked like as I was heading out

And this is me with fogged up glasses and snow all over my head hahaha

FAIL!

Days I haven't been on failblog.org: UNKNOWN

I just went on for the first time in what feels like ages. And I am laughing so hard my stomach hurts more than it usually does presently, on account of the fiasco that was...whatever that day was.

Call me immature...but cmon. This is funny. Or maybe I just like a cheap laugh once in awhile.

TEHEHEH. Darth, you so silly.

What can I say, it's been a long day. Went gift shopping with Khey. Can't go into details so as not to spoil any surprises, but I did get a Betseyville laptop bag at Winners. IT IS BEAUTIFUL! I've been wanting a laptop bag in general for awhile now, and to find a Betseyville one...IT WAS FATE. I'll swear to it, it was. :)

9

Nine--

the number of days till I depart for Las Vegas!

I'll be spending my holiday, including Christmas and Boxing Day, with my mom, dad, bro, and sister in the city that never sleeps. It'll be our first family vacation since Disneyland, which was the summer after gr9, I think. Christmas in a different country! Wowww. It's going to be interesting.

I'm gonna miss Tim though :( hahah

Never Again... (again?*)

* I'm sure I have another entry somewhere with the same title.

The following pages are what I had left on my Safari browser before I put my Mac to sleep:

Those would have been the last pages I'd have ever browsed for the rest of my life, had I not just woken up after passing out for 6 hours.

From what, you may ask. Well, I think we know the answer to that one. Hence my conscious decision:

Never again.

I know I've said it before, but this is it this time. I have never been so scared in my entire life.
I thought I was dying. Right before I passed out I was on the phone with Tim. I texted him while he was still at work and he called me to check what the emergency was. Apparently I sounded like I thought it was the last time I'd ever talk to him. I truly thought it was. I had to hang up because the attempts I made to talk caused more nausea.

It all started out with me wanting to see Twilight with Richie at Metrotown. We decided we would blaze up first. Two tokes later I'm hacking like crazy and I vomit a little on the sidewalk. We laugh. I'm pretty embarrassed and I know something's not right. I know this feeling. It's the feeling I had after Shrooms, and the same feeling I had when I blazed while on penicillin well over a month ago.

I needed water pretty bad so we went back to his car in the underground parking lot. We never saw Twilight. Instead, we saw my entire stomach content splattered all over the concrete, spread over two parking stalls.

I was so scared. I wanted to go home and be in my own bed and sleep it all off. But there was the risk of not having anyone to help me if I started throwing up again. Knowing that I almost choked on chunks of pizza and could've died had Richie not been there to help me, I took that risk just to be in the comfort of my own home.

I got in my pajamas and tried to clean myself up a bit. I stood in front of the bathroom sink and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked like death. My lips were strangely really red, and that was before I started vomiting blood. I don't know where the blood came from exactly, but I suspect that once everything else was out of my stomach, something had to go.

The water from the sink was loud enough to hinder the sounds of me choking and vomiting my own blood. My parents were just downstairs. Believe me, I wanted to ask them for help but I was too scared they'd find me out. So I had to suffer it out on my own.

I got in bed. I couldn't stop shaking. This is it, I thought. They probably won't find me till the afternoon, 'cause they'll just assume I was sleeping in. And when they'd find me, they'd find my room looking perfectly fine, with no signs of a struggle, except for the limp, dead Dorothy in this bed.

What's done is done. And I'm done with that stuff for good.

I am grateful to be alive, still. And I'm too afraid to fall asleep.

delirious

It's 430AM. Just got home from Rio bout an hour ago.

Even though I worked for just a short amount of time, probs around the same number of hours I'd do on a week day, the fact that I was working in the wee hours of the mornin' put me soooo out of it.

How did I manage to close?

Hash is how. Got a teeny bit baked and shut that mutha down.

Can't sleep till I feel sober.

SS

Today we did the Secret Santa exchange and Alannah, my Secret Santa, gave me the movie I've been wanting for the longest time: Paris, Je T'Aime !!!!!!!!!!

I saw this movie at Video Divina in second semestre of last year with a bunch of my friends, and it was hands-down just one of the most beautiful experiences I've had at a screening. For one thing, it's an amazing film that is guaranteed to touch everyone in at least one way. Secondly, I got to see it with my peers and discuss how I felt about it afterwards! What a treat that club is, really. It's a shame I had to miss out on so many screenings this semestre because I was in COMM class.

Oh and I'm pretty sure I cried on three different occasions during the film.

Bahaha can't wait to make my baby watch it.

but we belong together

I'm not sure why, but I just don't look forward to going to bed anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love to sleep. Ha, I even fell asleep at school today because I was so comfortable on the couch, basking in the warmth of the sun.

I just don't like going to bed in a bad mood.

And every night, I some how get in a bad mood.

What the hell is going on here?

"I can't sleep at night when you are on my mind
Bobby Womack's on the radio saying to me:
'If you think you're lonely now'
Wait a minute this is too deep (too deep)
I gotta change the station so I turn the dial
Trying to catch a break and then I hear Babyface
I only think of you and it's breaking my heart
I'm trying to keep it together but I'm falling apart"

maybe we can work it out

Just because the holidays are coming up, there's no excuse to be letting myself go.

It's time to get back on track. Number 1 on my wishlist:

To become the skinny bitch every girl loves to hate.

New Workout Plan:
  • become anti-social, or at least avoid outings where food will be present
  • sleep, sleep, sleep
  • wake-up
  • school (ends dec3) / work (everyday if possible)
  • repeat

red (hair) + green (eyes)

"Stop trying to look like a Christmas tree" - Lance this morning

So how is it that I get a terrible hangover this morning when I drank remarkably less than I did last weekend? Last weekend, 9 or 10 shots later, I went from Rachel's to JB's and simply fell sleep for a couple hours, then woke up just fine. It doesn't make sense. :S

Yesterday was eventful. Hung out with the bf during the day and went to Jayson's birthday with Catherine. I didn't drink a lot but I had vodka and bacardi and crown without chase;  even now just the thought of it makes me feel gross. Defs not drinking vodka for awhile.

Well, good news is my huge headache that I had all day disappeared a few minutes after I stepped out of my house and got some fresh air while on my way to the Rio. Khey was working and I wanted to drop by and hang for a bit and pick up my schedule. I only have two shifts this week! But I gotta work my ass off for the rest of the month. I'm no longer in debt but I want to buy Christmas presents for my family fo shoooo.

fresh look: "poison ivy"

The title of this post refers to two things:
1) my new hair colour, and
2) my FreshLook contacts that will be shipped to me tomorrow! BY12PM! YAY FEDEX+CLEARLYCONTACTS.CA!

Okay, so the first day I went out with my new hair was Tuesday and I happened to be dressed in all black, with red leather boots and a green faux leather purse. Seeing all the red and green together brought the villain Poison Ivy from Batman to mind for some reason. Then that night I changed my screen name to Poison Ivy. It's stuck with me since, and thus I've adopted it as a new persona of sorts. Furthermore, I recently ran out of my Dailies and have been surviving on the last few pairs of my Acuvue Oasys 2-week contacts. And as I've always wanted to try coloured contacts, I finally got around to checking ClearlyContacts.ca for my options. In the end, I ordered FreshLook Colors (Opaques) contacts!

And of course I had to choose green. :) EEP! I can't wait for my package to arrive! Once I receive  it I'm going to head over to the bf's to chill for the day before I head over to Jayson's birthday house partaaaayyyy.

fuchsia flash!

Soooooooooooo...............

I dyed the bottom half of my hair blonde on Oct 21. Then a couple weeks ago or so, I cut the right side of it short and left the left side the same.

Lately I've been pretty tired of the fugly 'blonde.' Honestly it looks like hay or something; it's totally lost its novelty, and so I've been contemplating giving that part some colour. So tonight I went to Shoppers and Tim and I picked up a box of Colour Rays by L'Oreal. Get this, the colour is called Fuchsia Flash! Hahahah I loved the sound of it, and even though I was a bit skeptical at first, I figured, What the heck. I've taken so many risks with my hair thus far. I might as well. Pictures to come!

It didn't come out the way I thought it would, but it's definitely given me a different look! Yayyyyyyy.

Wow, I just realized I never mentioned how the fundraiser went! Well, it was great. Stressful, but the Guat team made a lot of money. So from this I conclude, Stress = Success!

This weekend's looking pretty good. A friend of mine, Eirene Cloma, who graced us with her awesome talent on Friday, is hosting an event at Rhizome Cafe called Brand New Sneakers this Saturday. I'm pretty excited to go. I checked out the other acts (listed on the event) and I'm so excited to see them live!

SNOOZE

I was supposed to get up at 10:30AM but instead I hit the snooze button every 5 minutes up until 11:45AM. I love my snooze button.

I had fun last night at Meg's Bday dindin and then at the aftermath at Rachel's. We had to leave early though because Rach and her dad had to get to bed early. So then we headed to JB's and Ivan, JB, and I pretty much passed out; Cath and Paul were talking all night and eventually woke me up.

Now I get to go to work hungover as shiiiiet! Haha I remember when every other day in the summer was like this.

I love my life.

Guatemala Coffee House Fundraiser

Tomorrow I'll be facilitating my first big event! It's the 3rd Annual Guatemala Coffee House Fundraiser / Talent Showcase hosted by the CCCSA in conjunction with the Guatemala service team, with all proceeds going towards their efforts at the orphanage. I'm a little nervous and stressed, but of course this can happen with any event. Even though you know most things are in order, you always have to be prepared for absolutely anything. For example, today at work I learned the importance of being able to troubleshoot in any situation.

WISH ME LUCK!

Student Association (Tiff, Pockets, Cath, Nai, and I) will be performing a mash-up of Twist and Shout with an intro scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Footloose! I've still got a bunch of other things to organize on top of  rehearsing so I don't look like a fool. Aye dios mio :(

Seriously. WISH ME LUCK.

thus begins my 4 day "weekend"

Here we go again.

I'm trying to be better but I'm tired of pretending I'm okay in the meantime. If I'm upset or feel messed up or stressed out, I'm not gonna be passive aggressive like it's high school all over again and consequently ruin my relationships with people. I'm gonna express myself in whatever way I so choose. This is my right as a human being. Don't you tell me that I should stop crying. I will weep whenever and wherever I want. You think I care if professors and fellow classmates are walking around while I'm crying? I'd rather they see I'm human and have real emotions (contrary to popular belief) than let them think I'm just another ghost in the machine.

I want to be okay again so I can stop being such a burden for him. I love him so much and it's not fair for me to be poisoning him with my problems.

count down

I am counting down the days till my next paycheque!
I've just worked 4 days in a row, and tomorrow is my first day off, only because my class in the evening would interfere with a shift. I am seriously physically and mentally exhausted. I typically have 4 day weekends because I only go to school Mon-Weds; however, this is the first time I feel like I did not have a weekend at all. However, after my shift, I went out for drinks with Khey at Toby's and we ranted about pretty much everything. Now I feel so much more at ease having expressed my feelings about anything and everything, including work, school, money, so-called friends, etc. Well at least I made a new friend today! Our server Shelley was super nice to us. :)

After Toby's we stumbled to Shopper's and I bought new eye-liner and a pair of Christmas-y socks, black ones with stripes and a reindeer and little pom=pom balls. Kheyann is very supportive of drunken purchases.

I have the best girlfriend ever!

"I don't think the dead care about vengeance."

It's 3AM. I got home about a half hour ago; Timmy walked my drunkass home after Quantum of Solace.

Today, or should I say yesterday, went exceptionally well. The CCCSA potluck went smoothly, and around 1pm, an hour and a half after I arrived, I was back on the b-line to Broadway Stn. Caught the bus with Peter and talked about Daniel Craig ahaha. I hadn't seen Casino Royale so I wanted to know what he was like as 007.

I met up with Khey at the Rio and we went to chill at my place while Boss Man Chris was building up the film. Janey came over too and we hung out for a bit before we parted ways; Jane went off to ballet and Khey and I went to do a little quality control by catching a sneak preview of Quantum of Solace! WOW that film was intense! I screamed so much during the opening scene and a few other intense moments. I remember at one point I started getting sweaty, and my heart was racing. Maybe it was the coffee, but I like to think it was the film. I love Daniel Craig as Bond! He really brings something different, methinks. Now I just gotta go see Casino Royale.

After the screening I went straight to work with Aaron. It was slow pretty much up until Aaron was gone and Paul was clocked in for the 930PM show. This one guy ordered 10 large buttered popcorns for him and his various friends. :| That took forever to prepare. Paul was such a trooper doing all of that. And then Cherise came by and I needed to go home to grab a bite to eat and make myself fancy for the midnight screening. :)

I got back  about 45 minutes later, and the next thing you know, Zack & Miri is over and we're ready to rock the rush. I'm thinking maybe wearing heels while working behind concession wasn't such a good idea. I almost slipped at least 20 times. But whatever, it looked good. The shoes I mean, not the near fatal slippage part. Hopefully there will be some photos of the event up soon because I forgot to whip out my camera to take some photos with the staff; it was just so busy! After my shift, I met up with Tim and our friends and watched the second half of Quantum of Solace again. I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. Plus I made a bunch of drinks to help me unwind after the stress.

Here's to yet another successful night at the Rio!

NOW GO SEE QUANTUM OF SOLACE!

Kiss My Xanthia

Tim and I went to the Scotiabank Theatre after my Comm class to see
*drum roll please*

Role Models!

I heard it was funny, but man it really exceeded my expectations. I definitely can say I laughed way more, and definitely harder during that movie than during Zack and Miri Make a Porno. There was not a scene in which I wasn't foot stomping, knee slapping, laughing so hard with my mouth wide open---you know the bit. If you're trying to decide which comedy to see, definitely choose Role Models. You will not be disappointed.

I think one of the reasons I didn't expect too much was because of Seann William Scott. He just seems so mediocre to me, but my opinion of him totally changed tonight. Despite my perception of SWS, of course I had to see it. How could I miss Paul Rudd!?!? In Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (both my faves!), he brought his A-game fo shoo. Speaking of Knocked Up, the guy who plays the gyno Dr. Kuni plays the king in the Laire. Ken Jeong is his name, and he's had roles in Step Brothers and Pineapple Express, two other movies I love! Speaking of movies I love (wow I am just name-dropping left, right and centre here!), the infamous McLovin from Superbad, Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays a really sweet kid in a cape who loves to fight for his country Xanthia in the live action role playing game called Laire.
**Sidenote: I was looking up what exactly "Laire" is and found a website!  It actually sounds pretty cool.

Anyway, lastly I give mucho kudos to Jane Lynch who was the icing on the cake. She had some of the funniest scenes and lines. I don't wanna spoil too much, but as seen in the trailer she goes, "You know what I used to eat for breakfast? Cocaine. You know what I used to eat for lunch? Cocaine." Another one of my favourites: "I don't wanna be too graphic but let's just say I used to suck his dick for drugs" or something along those lines :) Hahahha AND AND AND (one more!) "I'm not here to service you; I'm here to service these young boys." Gah I loved this movie for all the dirty things it put in my head, and I'm sure in the minds of many others as well. If you have a sense of humour similar to mine, then I guarantee you will get a kick out of this one.

Seriously. GO WATCH ROLE MODELS.

"Veto this store!"

*in Holt Renfrew*
Me: *points at a fugly tie* How bout this one James? It is very becoming.
JB: Do you mean, me coming out of the closet? Are you calling me gay?
Me: Hey, you said it.

________________________________________________________

Last night we tried going to Hennessey but it was rented out for a private party, and in Jeremy's words, "It's [was] too gangster" anyway.

The night started out with me coming home from work to get ready while Catherine and Megan took pictures. When I was finished we all ended up taking pictures in my room, as per usje. Catherine took these amazing jumping shots of Megan who poses so perfectly! I'm so jel. Finally we left the house after I got us to stop taking pictures, and we made it out to Hennessey and met up with Jeremy and his friends. Since we couldn't get in we decided to go to the Cactus Club across from Burrard Stn 'cause it's nice and pretty and new.ish.

Jayson drove Megan, Cath and I and right before we went on the bridge, Meg ask Jayson if we could ride with the top down. So we did, with Lil Wayne blasting through the speakers. Sick lifeeeee hahaha We ordered right for last call at Cactus. The chefs must've been pissed. We wanted to go find somewhere to drink but when we walked into Steamworks they told us it was closed! So we just looked for another place to go to in Gastown. And by look I mean we just ended up taking a walk around the place. Then Jayson kindly drove us home :)

I ended up falling asleep at around 5AM, in mid-conversation with JB. I finally got out of bed today at around 2 or 230PM. Talked to JB on msn again and we ended up hanging out today. He wanted to go get a pair of shoes at Sterling where John was working so he could get him a discount. They're pretty sick kicks, I must say.

We had some New York Fries, my first meal of the day at 4PM baby! Two things:
 1) I really need to have a more regular sleeping pattern.
2) I really need to have a more regular eating schedule. ie. more than one meal per day.

Then we just did some window shopping. Man H&M was a harsh tease. What torture! I have money but I really shouldn't be spending it while I'm in debt. :( Afterwards we went to Holt Renfrew and I drooled over all the things I could never afford. Thankfully with JB there I could point at stuff and say, Christmas present! Actually it was his idea. He said, "If you took me here to find out what you should get me for Christmas, anything in this vicinity is good..." Hahah Then when I asked if we could go in Blue Ruby he was like, "I veto this store!" I didn't know what he meant and then I realized he meant I couldn't 'Christmas present!" anything in that store hahah Not fair.

Kind of worried about the holiday season...I am gonna be broke before I get a chance to buy anyone presents :(

what's up, what's happenin

The past couple of weeks have been rough, but things are starting to look up. Lately, I've been doing little things to get back on my feet slowly but surely. I initiated this process as soon as  I started feeling unsatisfied with myself. Though I know I've accomplished a lot already, I just feel like I could be doing more. I believe there's always, always, ALWAYS room for improvement. I'm doing just enough to get by, but why stop there? There are an infinite number of things I could be doing to make me happier, more at ease, more successful, etc. Oh, and not to mention going after opportunities where I could make more money! Ah. Yes. It always ends up being about money.

I've created a list of steps I am now taking to improve my situation. So far I've written an official statement to my boss expressing my interest in the business of event planning, and my request for a more active role during special events. As of tomorrow,  I will have applied for a second job (at Plenty on W Broadway and Macdonald), one that I could work during the day when I'm not working at The Rio, which if on a weekday, I usually work nights.

Often when I get into these phases, I also tend to do drastic things with my physical appearance. For example, during high school, I cut my own hair a lot. One day I had shoulder length hair, the next, it was boy short. I cut my hair a lot when I had anxieties too. It didn't always turn out so well... At one point my mother started hiding the scissors. Hah.

A couple of weeks ago I bleached my hair. Honestly, the novelty has worn off and I wouldn't mind dying it all some dark colour to make it uniform, but I will at least try to keep it like this till December. That's what I'm saying at least. I'm not sure if it's that old familiar feeling of wanting to see change happen , or if it's all the coffee I drank that's making me so wired and hyper tonight--maybe it's both!--, but something made me want to cut my hair. Soooooo...I cut the right side of it short.

Voila!

These photos kind of remind me of how I was during high school, trying to be "emo." Hahahah.

I was looking for a photo I just saved as 'lovemovement', which is of the "Love is the Movement" Logo, and I found something else! A picture from 2007 where I am wearing the shirt! Sadly I lost that shirt at camp that year :(

Also thought I'd throw this in here to compare my hair from now and then.

On a more serious note, this hoodie means a lot to me. I bought it when I volunteered for TWLOHA at Warped in 2007. I'm actually wearing it in anticipation for the 2nd Annual TWLOHA Day on Thurs. Nov 13. Unfortunately I can't say I've been clean for over a month...Still struggling, but at least I'm surviving.

On Nov 13th I will write "Love" on my other arm.

Saturday + Sunday = Hangover / Recovery Period

I spent Halloween at
who's house?
Due's houssssse!

Wow, I have said that a bajillion times and it still hasn't gotten old.

Anyways, Due's house was fun times, as per usje. I got to see a bunch of people who were just dropping by before going to Poison, eg Megan, Rachel, Gerrick, Matt. Then they left, but it wasn't long before Due's house got packed. There was definitely a point when I was just obliterated, walking drunkenly and aimlessly through the house. Every where I went the room was full, so I'd just continue running around with my drink and/or camera and/or leash and/or pirate wig hahaha.

This time around I couldn't just pick a handful of photos. I wish I could post all of them, but you can always go check out my Facebook for that. So here are a few series I put together summing up the good times that happened from Fri-Sat.

(L-R) 1. Puff the Magic Dragon, Optimus Prime, Karate Kid. 2. Gerrick, Rochelle. 3. Jordan, Laura, Sison, Ty.
4. Cath, Grace, Chris Chan. 5. Best Couple Costume, imo--Marielle, Mike. 6. Joy

This is the series where I got to be vain.

1. Lumberjack Chris. 2. Star Wars/Pirate hooker. 3. Plug.
4. EEEEP! 5. Matt the Mime and Waldo. 6. JOKER.
7. Pockets petting his dragon. 8. Joker again. 9. Flava Flaaaav.

Okay back to my homework now. Gah, don'tcha just love Sundays.

Made in 15 Minutes

Starring my two good friends Tiff Hill and JayR Tarlit
Directed and produced by your favourite sisters!
ahahah

This was done during our COMM150 Introduction to Journalism class.
We came up with the concept (and by we, I mean Catherine :P)  and filmed all of this within 15 minutes, the time given to complete the surprise in-class assignment. This was shot in sequence in the library beneath St. Ignatius Parish by my school. When we got back to class, various groups presented their projects and we were pretty much the most excited to see our efforts on screen. I told everyone I was going to edit it and post it on Facebook as soon as I got home. And I did. The main track is Ensurance Trap by Michael Andrews from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. The credit track is Liquid Spear Waltz by Michael Andrews as well. Enjoy! :)

In other news, Halloween sure has creeped up on me this year. I'm so excited it's on a Friday! There are a lot of events going on tomorrow, including Poison and Dooms (not interested in either), and of course the midnight double feature of John Carpenter's Halloween and The Thing at The Rio and what not, but I'd much rather just chill it out with friends at my friend's house party. I'm not gonna say what I'm dressing up as though; you'll just have to see it in person, or wait for the photographs :)

Happy Halloween everyone!

not that I'm counting, really

The first time I tried to quit smoking, I didn't try hard enough. I only made it 3 days without.
The second time I tried to quit smoking, I kept thinking about going back to it some time after 28 days was over. And I did.

The last time I smoked, I had blazed the same day. I went out to eat with a bunch of friends, and when Brock asked me if he could have a cig while waiting for the order, I decided right then and there to give him the rest of my pack and call it quits.

I haven't smoked a cigarette since, and it's officially been a month. I don't know how I did it, again, but I think NOT counting the days factored into my success. I remember last time I just kept obsessing over what day it was and had it in my mind that as long as I made it to 28, I proved enough. I had subconsciously decided I could smoke again after that period. Lately, I've also been very busy, too busy and too broke, working my ass off, trying to make things work, so I could pay off my bills.

Every time I see someone smoking now, I think, Wow, when was the last time? When I start asking this, I know I truly miss it, and so I had to check how long it's been. I can't believe it's been a month. I just had to blog about this so I can come back and remember I made it this far just fine.

a fatal attraction to cuteness

Hey hey hey Harajuku Lovers,

As part of Matchstick's marketing program for Harajuku Lovers fragrances, I am here to blog about the fantastical Love, lil Angel, Music, Baby (LAMB), and G!

me on Weds morning with my new HL bag and HL cosmetic bag.
They are both super kawaii--I love them!

I've always been a fan of Gwen Stefani. I remember when I was a little girl, one of my favourite songs was Just a Girl, and I begged my dad to buy me No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom as my very first CD. Thirteen years later and she's already established her own clothing line and has a new line of fragrances, Harajuku Lovers.

Here are some more photos of the package I received on Wednesday morning.

Vials of samples, Shopper Optimum Promo cards,
My own Music, Charm bracelet, Personal samples

 <

I must say I love the Optimum card.

 i
 LOVE
'em

*Weeee!!!*

This was actually very difficult to set up haha.
Right now my absolute fave is probably Music,
or Lil Angel,
or Love...
mleh! I love all of them!

Gweny-Gwen, you got that wicked style...I am your biggest fan!

Here's a slideshow of a few of my favourite photos from Jane's Superhero Super Birthday Party.

Most of Sunday was spent recovering.
Tuesday I dyed the bottom half of my hair blond.ish.
Wednesday morning I got my package from Matchstick with all the Harajuku Lovers perfume promo. More on that later...

what i can remember at 4AM

i just made it home
i have a swollen, watering eye
kheyann walked me home! like she promised she would
even though i'm only a block away from Jane

i left behind my pants
in order to earn drinks from one of my generous donor's, megan
i let Cape Man wear my skirt while i pranced around in my nautical themed boy-shorts

i passed out for a bit on a coffee table,
and then moved onto a comfy chair
i passed out for about an hour
and woke up with a start
my phone was completely dead
i became totally paranoid
i thought my parents had maybe called the cops
i knew i needed to get back home asap
aaron gave me his pepper spray
jane tried to put me in a weird pleather pencil skirt
since all i had was my leggings and underwear
i refused to wear it

Cape Man was passed out on the couch
with a pot beside his head
he's still wearing his cape
and my skirt

i am not yet sober
i started drinking at 8PM
it is now 4AM

let's see if i remember any of this when i wake up

For Warrick

For Warrick.

During the first 10 minutes of the season 9 premiere of CSI, I bawled my eyes out. I didn't just weep because what happened had made me sad, I cried because I felt like a part of me died. Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. I'm laughing a little bit too because I realize how big of a geek I am.  You can call me obsessed-- it's true. CSI, the original set in Vegas, is not just my favourite show. It's my hobby. I've been on forums; I've read every memorable quote on IMDB; and I even made my "Most likely to..." in the 2007 LFA yearbook CSI related.

I've been watching CSI since the 6th grade, and for at least 5 seasons, I've watched it religiously. And by religiously I mean on Thursday nights 5 minutes prior to the show, everything stopped. Regardless whether I had finished my homework or not I would put it away. I sat in front of the TV for an hour straight and never left during commercial breaks. Well, of course now I have the luxury of recording my favourite shows and skipping through commercials--Thank you, Shaw!

I've been following CSI like a soap opera. It was my first love.  SOOOO excited for another episode tonight.

Here's to Season 9 bitchesss. Miami ain't got nothin on Vegas.

give thanks - parte dos

At the Dorothy, actually headquarters eating a mash-up of
potatoes, cranberry sauce, peas, and corn. MMMMMMmmmm.
I was mixing my food together when my mom said,
"You should have some turkey, get some protein in you."
I replied, "Um, mom. Turkey is meat, too."
*long pause*

Mom says, "Oh right ha ha ha. I forgot you're vegetarian!"

BAHAHHAAH. Oh my mom cracks me up. I've yet to blog about the numerous times I've suspected her of tricking me into eating meat, but really she's just being forgetful for those few moments.

After Thanksgiving lunch with the fam I returned to my room and went back to my bed and my DS. I'm so obsessed with Sudoku on Brain Age 2 now; I once played till 4 or 5AM and woke up with my DS still in my bed because I passed out from exhaustion before I could put it away. Today,  after solving three puzzles, my eyes started hurting and I realized it was about time I started my homework. I was working on Comm (wow, I know eh) when all of a sudden I felt like I should be eating again. Considering it's my first day off and for the past few nights I have been skipping dinner, being able to eat more than one meal today is fanfuckingtastic.

Janey just messaged me. Since her Turkey Day plans have fallen through, we're aiming to hang out tonight. That means I need to do a shitload of homework so I can justify going out.
Or, I can do what I usually do and say, Fuck it all! and leave my Aristotle vs. (I haven't yet decided!) paper (Due Weds noon at Turnitin.com) and my newsletter interview prep (I interview Dr. Rosengarten tomorrow 11AM!) to the last minute. Hmmm. Well, either way, I need to stop blogging and get to work. Or not.

Wow, two posts in a day. I'm enjoying reading my own thoughts way too much. Hah.

Till next time, fellow prisoners.

D I A

give thanks

My it's been awhile. I've been wanting to blog but I've spent most of my days out, either working or chilling with my friends or sibs. Thursday was spent recovering after the mess that was Wednesday (see previous post). I managed to get out of the house to meet up with Jane and Kheyann at Metrotown. Unfortunately I didn't get to hang out with Jane for long because she had to go to ballet. However Kheyann and I went to see Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, which by the way I did not have high expectations for, and guess what? I actually liked it. Even after being so sick of seeing the cheesy premise of the movie laid out in the ads I was pleasantly surprised. Who am I kidding?! I. Love. Cheese. I am just about the sappiest person I know. The soundtrack lived up to the film's title and I lovedlovedloved every track, so I downloaded all of them. Oh, and my new life goal is to be Kat Dennings. Frack. Why does she have to be so pretty?! After the movie I checked out Khey's new crib and had some cider before rushing off to work. We had an event for Free Ride Entertainment. They presented a premiere screening of "Never Enough", which has something to do with dirt bikes? or extreme biking type things? I dunno what the exact term for it is. It wasn't too crazy, seeing as how the real party was at a 19+ only party later at Dollhouse Studios. That basically meant about 50% of the customers at the Rio were just LBs with their fathers, or almost legal teenage boys.

Friday night was the CCCSA event I put together-- Glow in the Dark bowling at Town and Country! Woot. I'll write a separate post about that, complete with photos.

Saturday afternoon was spent with the sibs. We headed to Tinseltown and caught How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. 1) Damn I love Simon Pegg. 2) Surprisingly I didn't find Megan Fox annoying. 3) I actually liked Kirsten Dunst more than I usually do. I truly think it is only because she plays opposite Simon Pegg, whom I love. Afterwards, we headed back home and then I had to go straight to work.

Today Yesterday, I worked with Jane and got to make up for the lack of hang-out time on Thursday. Generally Sundays are pretty lame but we had fun catching up and singing Lauryn Hill and planning our date for Thursday. We have to go out to AA and get our costumes ready for her Superhero themed birthday party and then later in the evening we'll be going out to celebrate my 1 year of vegetarianism at Foundations, one of my fave vegetarian restaurants. The food is so good that every time I go back it is a conscious decision that the value of the food itself is much greater than the importance of how the hipsters consistently treat me as if I don't deserve to be served by them.

And that brings me to today! (Warning: Major Cheese Sauce ahead)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

I would like to give thanks to mi familia. Chiong Thunder, baby. To my parents who've always supported me in all my endeavours, and to my sibs who discouraged me enough it just made me want it even more.

To all my friends. To the handful of you who have been my best friends since high school, you all know that if it weren't for you guys, I wouldn't be alive today. With that being said, I am most grateful for my newest best friend, my boyfriend Tim. I am so honoured to be a part of your life and so humble to be able to share mine with you. I love you babe.

So it's 2AM, which means it's time to either
a) Watch something comedic. Probs Bob Saget related.
b) Play my DS. (I've recently discovered I thoroughly enjoy Sudoku on Brain Age 2) or
c) lie in bed and think about life until I fall asleep.

I'll probably do all of the above.
Goooooooood night.

love love love,

Dorothy

"morning sickness?" - kody

Today was like any other day where I had 3 hours to kill and nothing to kill em with. But of course, when I bump into Brock, it can only mean one thing. We went out to blaze and I did just a little bit before walking back to school to chill before we had class. I was tripping out like crazy when I plopped on a couch in the lounge. The feeling was an old familiar one, but not the one that I liked. It was the same bad feeling I had when I blazed (it was a good idea at the time) after doing shrooms this past summer. A few minutes later I found myself running up to the ladies room to hurl. I was alone during the worst of it, but soon enough I started freaking out and crying, calling for help. Luckily my friend Becky heard and came to my rescue. I thought that was the end of it, but i was wrong. I puked four more times within 30 minutes. The fourth time I was certain I had vomited the entire contents of my stomach and that that was the end of it. I was wrong again. The final time I booked it up the stairs, Mark was there wishing me well while on his way out. Then he noticed my hand over my mouth and sensing the urgency, opened the door to the ladies room so I could make it to the toilet. Thanks to Mark and thank god I made it.

Note to self: Do not blaze when on prescribed medication.

My puke was orange, and I wasn't really sure why at first. Then I thought about it and recalled my penicillin tablets are orange. I got sick because wasn't meant to blaze while on antibiotics.
Lesson learned.

In other news, I am falling in love with Bob Saget all over again. I grew up watching Full House religiously. That show pretty much raised me. The other day, Tim was showing me clips of his roast on Comedy Central, and ever since I've been watching all 8 parts that I found on YouTube, along with videos of some of his stand up.

Straight up. I love Bob Saget.

Stay classy ladies&gents,

Dorothy, actually.

Blindness

Tim and I just saw Blindness at the Rio. A friend of mine who had the chance to see it at the Toronto International Film Festival told me it was really hard to watch. I now know what she meant. I often had to cover my eyes with my hands or Tim's hands, or bury my face into his shoulder. The sunken feeling in my heart reminded me of how Children of Men was also very difficult for me to watch. I liked it anyway, and I definitely recommend watching Blindness if you're up for the challenge.

After having seen a lot of disturbing things that nearly brought me to tears, I'm afraid of what I might dream tonight.

... I have an infection

( =O not that kind of infection!)
...and have been prescribed penicillin.

Since my family doctor was fully booked today, I walked in to a clinic near 41st and Victoria called Care Point Medical. My doctor's name was Bob Love. HAH. Dr. Love. Anyway I found out my throat is indeed infected and I must take my antibiotics 4 times a day. I've only had two tablets thus far and I feel significantly better already! The only thing worrying me at this point is the disturbing list of possible side effects. Oh well. I'll worry about the diarrhea and mouth sores if/when they ever happen.

Stay classy!

1 week 5 days later...

I'm still sick with this weird sore throat/cough. It's strange because I only cough in the morning when I wake up, or right as I fall asleep. And by cough I mean hacking to the point where I might cough blood, or start vomiting.  So long as I stay on my Benylin 24/7 I've managed to keep it at bay for the rest of the day. My voice comes and goes depending on how much I talk, but it usually comes back. I thought that I'd be better by now but maybe this bug is worse than I imagined. Everyone at school is getting sick. My mom is sick. I think I got my boyfriend sick. Oooops. This morning, I woke up and my throat was pretty swollen. I've had problems swallowing since Sunday, but this shit just went to the next level. I should probably see a doctor. I probably need antibiotics.

Thankfully I have the day off (no work, no school!) to recuperate and get my shit together. I think I just might stay at home all day. If I do go out, I really hope to get a manicure. I've been biting my nails again since trying to quit smoking (I'm a sometimes quitter). I read that smoking and drinking alcohol can cause sore throats which might be what did it for me. That and probably coming into contact with someone who had a virus. Shiiiiiit. I'm starting to read all the medical stuff I googled and am getting very paranoid. Hhahha. I really hope this is just a cold.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

latest look

burn after reading

Yesterday was a jam-packed day with meetings left, right, and centre. At noon I had my first student association meeting which went very well. I successfully facilitated it without a staff liaison and the members were very responsive to my leadership style, which gave me more confidence throughout the meeting. Afterwards, a few of the members, Nick, Catherine and Naila, and I went out with Liz and Laura to the SUB to grab food. When I got back to the Cave I met up with the birthday boy, my boyfriend, and since I had enough time before my next meeting, we decided to go out to lunch. I hadn't eaten yet because I didn't want anything at the SUB. I've been eating there for the past two days which I had never done before and I don't think I want to make it a habit. :S We bussed down to Main and Broadway and found a sushi place. We passed by Scrape Records which Tim has been wanting to go to for the longest time, and we noticed it on our way to lunch. Quel surprise/quel chance!
Lunch was funny because, as Tim put it, "I've never been in a sushi place that was quiet." Maybe it was due to the time of day? We were the only customers there for awhile and it was kinda eerie. Later on I didn't mind so much because I had a coughing fit and began hacking. It got to a point where my eyes were welling up with tears. "JUST THE WORST" as Naila says. My throat and cough have been getting worse throughout the week since Sunday morning. I finally gave in to buying cough syrup and Fisherman's Friend last night though. FINALLY.

My second meeting was a college board meeting that I attend as the student rep chair. It was the first board meeting I've ever attended and boy did I learn a lot. Oh and of course I got grilled with questions after I introduced myself. Usually I handle interviews quite well, but this time I actually felt myself get really warm and I probably turned red. Any how, one of the board members congratulated me for answering everyone on my first day on board. The chairman promised it wouldn't always be like this. I'm hoping the same. Although that bit was a little nerve-wracking, I did learn a lot about what goes on in these board meetings. It was fun for me to hear from all these well-rounded, educated, established, successful adults and to see them so passionate about the college. They've inspired me with ideas of how I can contribute in my own way through student association.

Around 730, I asked the recording secretary if I could be excused because she said I only had to be around till 730, and I was about to have another coughing fit. I found Tim in the student lounge, and we decided to go watch Burn After Reading at the Paramount. What an awesome film by the Coen brothers. I was entertained from start to finish. I can't wait to buy it on DVD! hahah So Timmy just dropped me off home and I'm still feeling the cough syrup...Otherwise I wouldn't have managed to write this whole blog. WOW I really don't mind writing when drunk/high. I shouldn't depend on those conditions to be able to write though. Now that would be a problem.

Yay for no school on Fridays!

Did a lot more moving of things from my Slocan house to my new room today. Apparently I may have a future in a moving company. Hahaha. I'm not gonna lie...my arms feel a whole lot more toned nowadays.

Gotta go do some cleaning to the new Pussycat Dolls CD, Doll Domination. I think the slideshow makes up for the lack of words today yeah?

Till next time,

Dorothy on the drive

It's 10:13AM and the lovely Vancouver sun is peeking into my new room. I no longer live by the infamous 29th Avenue Station. As of yesterday I've relocated to my parents' home near Broadway and Commercial Drive! ! ! I now live literally down the block from where I work.

Just getting ready to meet up with Tim at Granville Stn. We're hoping to do some shopping today. I really need to pick up some things for my room. It's pretty bland, for now. It definitely needs a paint job. I'm leaning towards warm colours right now but we'll see. Firstly I want to get some decorations and maybe new curtains. My sister says the housewares dept at her work (UO) has some nice stuff ("Do you think we would sell UGLY things?") so we'll see how that goes. :)

Tah-tah for now,

boats and hoes

Ahh.  Just relaxing at home after being let out of work early. :)

This afternoon we had a special screening of a documentary called Hijacking Humanity. I'm not completely sure what the show is about, but we did get a cool crowd. Unfortunately I left too early and I didn't get to bump into Kheyann, one of my best friends at work. I haven't seen her in awhile, not to mention about half my co-workers who are also good friends. I missed Tally's get-together/goodbye party yesterday at Havana's, but for good reasons (See previous post). Anyway, on the way home I was thinking about going to Bang-On at Metrotown to grab a sailor's cap for this theme party tonight , but sitting here now, I feel pretty satisfied that I didn't go, and I probably won't need to go if I just find the right clothes to wear. I should however probably go make some food for myself so I don't drink on an empty stomach like the mess I was last week. :S

So about the BOAT SHOW! Tonight a friend of mine is hosting a party for some friends at our college. It seems "Boats and Hoes" (Step Brothers) has become a bit of a theme ever since our orientation retreat where a few individuals started chanting it during talent night. Of course, we were told not to say the word "hoes" again and have since converted to using "Boatshow" as a more polite term when discussing it on campus. Hah.  Above is the banner my sister created for the event.

Pictures to come!

Stay classy,

sucker for romance

After looking over my past few posts, I'm thinking, wow I sound pretty pathetic. To be honest, I've had a really rough week and I'm just trying to keep it real yenno. After all, this blog is about my life, and I'm not gonna lie--I've cried every night since Sunday (btw I'm a HUGE cry baby), including tonight. But for the first time this week, these tears are of joy.

Happy 6 months sweetie. Te quiero.

a taste for suffering

As I am sitting at home in my PJs, missing a quiz in ENG235, I'm wondering, What the HECK are you doing to yourself, Dorothy?

I just about had the worst night ever trying to finish half a novel, followed by a sad realization that I'd never be able to retain any information at 1am. I decide to call it a night. At quarter to 9, I jolted awake from a terrible nightmare and freak out for several reasons. 1) why the fuck would I dream up such a thing? and 2) I gotta get my shit together and leave the house STAT.

Allow me to set up the scene.

Cue alarm going off at 7am. I look at the time and plan on stealing five more minutes.

Cue nightmare. I'm in my room with this guy who I am attempting pathetically to seduce when all of a sudden I hear someone coming up the stairs. I tell the poor guy to hide in the closet to no avail. He is absolutely stubborn, or maybe he's just stupid, or trying to tell me I'm stupid and he's talking obnoxiously loud and going to town laughing his face off like this whole situation is a riot. Anyway, I'm fed up and just open the door to find my mother. She doesn't even look me in the eye, rather she's staring at the guy behind me. I turn around to find a guy there, except it's not the same guy. It's my boyfriend standing there. Firstly I try to play dumb and ask him why the hell he is in my house. Surprisingly my mother welcomes him with open arms. I stand with my mouth wide open in awe.

In reality, my parents have yet to meet my boyfriend.

After I woke up from that nightmare I just had the shittiest feeling ever. I'll feel better in a bit when I get more off my chest, but you know that feeling, when you wake up and realize you still have so much shit to do before class but you have no time because you gotta go book it to the bus stop? Yeah, I had that, plus a shitload of sadness in my heart and a bad taste in my mouth after that nightmare. I tried to gather all my things really quickly in fifteen minutes so I could leave the house as soon as possible, but then I thought about what I would have to do in ENG235. That dreadful quiz for which I have not finished the novel. A wave of stress washed over me and as I drowned I asked myself, Why do you torture yourself like this?

As it stands, these credits are not going toward transferring to UBC or finishing a diploma at Corpus. I'm merely taking them because as president I need to be on campus, so I might as well be around to learn for my personal enjoyment. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be taking an english class right now but I don't think this novel set in Nigeria is really helping me gain skills for my dream career. I'm sure if I had been taking these classes under different circumstances I wouldn't feel this way, but right now, it almost feels like I'm wasting time and money and effort because at the end of the day, I just want to start a career in event planning. Here I am, Student Association President, trying my best to create a fun, nourishing environment when the situations I put myself in are quite the opposite. I'm trying to be the best student body president Corpus Christi has seen. I'm trying to get more experience in special events at the Rio. I'm trying to be a good, committed girlfriend. I'm trying so SO hard to be a decent human being. Stressing myself out for an unnecessary (imo) class is making all of the above more difficult than they already are.

If I don't get my shit together now, I'll be consciously allowing myself to suffer all semester long. I'm going to have to drop ENG235 so I can work Sunday and Tuesday nights and save up money for AI. I guess that'll be step numero uno.

Regarding the blog title: Upon recovering from six years of depression, I've reflected on why I was always so down on myself and why I never sought help. I constantly let myself be miserable because it was all I knew. It was the one constant element I had in my life, while friends came and went and bouts of happiness teased me with what I thought I could never have. Sometimes I wonder why I still let myself marinate in these situations. Then again, I've always been masochistic. Maybe I just have a taste for suffering. Whatever the case, I need to end these cravings and change things so I can be satisfied with my life.
