Role Models!

I heard it was funny, but man it really exceeded my expectations. I definitely can say I laughed way more, and definitely harder during that movie than during Zack and Miri Make a Porno. There was not a scene in which I wasn't foot stomping, knee slapping, laughing so hard with my mouth wide open---you know the bit. If you're trying to decide which comedy to see, definitely choose Role Models. You will not be disappointed.

I think one of the reasons I didn't expect too much was because of Seann William Scott. He just seems so mediocre to me, but my opinion of him totally changed tonight. Despite my perception of SWS, of course I had to see it. How could I miss Paul Rudd!?!? In Knocked Up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (both my faves!), he brought his A-game fo shoo. Speaking of Knocked Up, the guy who plays the gyno Dr. Kuni plays the king in the Laire. Ken Jeong is his name, and he's had roles in Step Brothers and Pineapple Express, two other movies I love! Speaking of movies I love (wow I am just name-dropping left, right and centre here!), the infamous McLovin from Superbad, Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays a really sweet kid in a cape who loves to fight for his country Xanthia in the live action role playing game called Laire. 

**Sidenote: I was looking up what exactly "Laire" is and found a website!  It actually sounds pretty cool. 

Anyway, lastly I give mucho kudos to Jane Lynch who was the icing on the cake. She had some of the funniest scenes and lines. I don't wanna spoil too much, but as seen in the trailer she goes, "You know what I used to eat for breakfast? Cocaine. You know what I used to eat for lunch? Cocaine." Another one of my favourites: "I don't wanna be too graphic but let's just say I used to suck his dick for drugs" or something along those lines :) Hahahha AND AND AND (one more!) "I'm not here to service you; I'm here to service these young boys." Gah I loved this movie for all the dirty things it put in my head, and I'm sure in the minds of many others as well. If you have a sense of humour similar to mine, then I guarantee you will get a kick out of this one.

Seriously. GO WATCH ROLE MODELS.

Last night we tried going to Hennessey but it was rented out for a private party, and in Jeremy's words, "It's [was] too gangster" anyway. 

The night started out with me coming home from work to get ready while Catherine and Megan took pictures. When I was finished we all ended up taking pictures in my room, as per usje. Catherine took these amazing jumping shots of Megan who poses so perfectly! I'm so jel. Finally we left the house after I got us to stop taking pictures, and we made it out to Hennessey and met up with Jeremy and his friends. Since we couldn't get in we decided to go to the Cactus Club across from Burrard Stn 'cause it's nice and pretty and new.ish.

Jayson drove Megan, Cath and I and right before we went on the bridge, Meg ask Jayson if we could ride with the top down. So we did, with Lil Wayne blasting through the speakers. Sick lifeeeee hahaha We ordered right for last call at Cactus. The chefs must've been pissed. We wanted to go find somewhere to drink but when we walked into Steamworks they told us it was closed! So we just looked for another place to go to in Gastown. And by look I mean we just ended up taking a walk around the place. Then Jayson kindly drove us home :)

I ended up falling asleep at around 5AM, in mid-conversation with JB. I finally got out of bed today at around 2 or 230PM. Talked to JB on msn again and we ended up hanging out today. He wanted to go get a pair of shoes at Sterling where John was working so he could get him a discount. They're pretty sick kicks, I must say.

We had some New York Fries, my first meal of the day at 4PM baby! Two things:

 1) I really need to have a more regular sleeping pattern.

2) I really need to have a more regular eating schedule. ie. more than one meal per day.

Then we just did some window shopping. Man H&M was a harsh tease. What torture! I have money but I really shouldn't be spending it while I'm in debt. :( Afterwards we went to Holt Renfrew and I drooled over all the things I could never afford. Thankfully with JB there I could point at stuff and say, Christmas present! Actually it was his idea. He said, "If you took me here to find out what you should get me for Christmas, anything in this vicinity is good..." Hahah Then when I asked if we could go in Blue Ruby he was like, "I veto this store!" I didn't know what he meant and then I realized he meant I couldn't 'Christmas present!" anything in that store hahah Not fair.

Kind of worried about the holiday season...I am gonna be broke before I get a chance to buy anyone presents :(

what's up, what's happenin

The past couple of weeks have been rough, but things are starting to look up. Lately, I've been doing little things to get back on my feet slowly but surely. I initiated this process as soon as  I started feeling unsatisfied with myself. Though I know I've accomplished a lot already, I just feel like I could be doing more. I believe there's always, always, ALWAYS room for improvement. I'm doing just enough to get by, but why stop there? There are an infinite number of things I could be doing to make me happier, more at ease, more successful, etc. Oh, and not to mention going after opportunities where I could make more money! Ah. Yes. It always ends up being about money.

I've created a list of steps I am now taking to improve my situation. So far I've written an official statement to my boss expressing my interest in the business of event planning, and my request for a more active role during special events. As of tomorrow,  I will have applied for a second job (at Plenty on W Broadway and Macdonald), one that I could work during the day when I'm not working at The Rio, which if on a weekday, I usually work nights.

Often when I get into these phases, I also tend to do drastic things with my physical appearance. For example, during high school, I cut my own hair a lot. One day I had shoulder length hair, the next, it was boy short. I cut my hair a lot when I had anxieties too. It didn't always turn out so well... At one point my mother started hiding the scissors. Hah. 

A couple of weeks ago I bleached my hair. Honestly, the novelty has worn off and I wouldn't mind dying it all some dark colour to make it uniform, but I will at least try to keep it like this till December. That's what I'm saying at least. I'm not sure if it's that old familiar feeling of wanting to see change happen , or if it's all the coffee I drank that's making me so wired and hyper tonight--maybe it's both!--, but something made me want to cut my hair. Soooooo...I cut the right side of it short.

These photos kind of remind me of how I was during high school, trying to be "emo." Hahahah.

I was looking for a photo I just saved as 'lovemovement', which is of the "Love is the Movement" Logo, and I found something else! A picture from 2007 where I am wearing the shirt! Sadly I lost that shirt at camp that year :(

Also thought I'd throw this in here to compare my hair from now and then.

On a more serious note, this hoodie means a lot to me. I bought it when I volunteered for TWLOHA at Warped in 2007. I'm actually wearing it in anticipation for the 2nd Annual TWLOHA Day on Thurs. Nov 13. Unfortunately I can't say I've been clean for over a month...Still struggling, but at least I'm surviving. 

On Nov 13th I will write "Love" on my other arm.

Wow, I have said that a bajillion times and it still hasn't gotten old.

Anyways, Due's house was fun times, as per usje. I got to see a bunch of people who were just dropping by before going to Poison, eg Megan, Rachel, Gerrick, Matt. Then they left, but it wasn't long before Due's house got packed. There was definitely a point when I was just obliterated, walking drunkenly and aimlessly through the house. Every where I went the room was full, so I'd just continue running around with my drink and/or camera and/or leash and/or pirate wig hahaha. 

This time around I couldn't just pick a handful of photos. I wish I could post all of them, but you can always go check out my Facebook for that. So here are a few series I put together summing up the good times that happened from Fri-Sat.
